Hotels & Lodges
Keekorok Lodge was opened in 1965 and lies at the southern end of Masai Mara National Reserve, approximately 280 kilometers from Nairobi. It is sited in the direct path of the annual migration and was the first lodge to be built in the Mara. At the height of the migration, Keekorok is surrounded by a swarming mass of animals and there is hardly need to go on a game drive. Keekorok’s charm lies in the liberal use of local building materials. Sand stone, cedar wood and other indigenous materials are used in all rooms and public areas. In front of the lodge there is a 300m elevated walkway that meanders through a small riverine forest to a small bar at one end. This overlooks a dam where resident hippo and other game are regularly seen. There are no fences around Keekorok and it is not uncommon to see Elephant and Buffalo on the perimeter of the grounds or even strolling in. Though there are watchmen on the constant look out!
An impressive property with a dramatic backdrop of Kenya’s most beautiful fresh water lake. The lodge is set in beautiful grounds with green acacias surrounding the lake which is host to a variety of game including giraffes, buffaloes and the elusive black faced colobus monkey. In and around the lake many hippos can be seen wallowing in the water or grazing within the lodge grounds.
Situated on the southern shores of Lake Naivasha, the smaller of the only two fresh water lakes in Kenya’s Great Rift Valley. Offers two restaurants serving a multi-ethnic combination of European, African and Asian dishes, all made with fresh produce. There are two bars. Leisure facilities include a swimming pool, kids’ pool, gym, game drives, bird watching, cycling, boat trip to Crescent Island, day trips to Elsamere, Hells Gate and Mount Longonot.
Kibo Safari Camp has 73 self-contained tents for single, double, triple and family accommodation. The beds have been custom designed and locally made using bush logs and will ensure a good night’s sleep! All tents have flush toilets, showers, and wash basins. You can enjoy your shower as you like: bubbling hot or refreshing cold. For the duration of your stay in the African bush, Kibo Safari Camp will be your home away from home!
