This is a 5 Days Safari from Nairobi to Masai Mara and Lake Nakuru famed for the flamingos that flock to its shores and 450 other species of birds. Lake Nakuru National Park is a sanctuary for the rhinos (both black and white) and the Rothschild Giraffe. You will also spend one day in Amboseli National Parks – one of the best places in Africa to view large herds of elephants up close against the background of Mount Kilimanjaro – Africa’ highest mountain.

Birding Destinations

Running north to south through the heart of Kenya, the Great Rift Valley is home to a series of lakes which are found at various intervals – Turkana in the north, followed by Baringo, Bogoria, Nakuru, Elmentaita, Naivasha in the far south, Natron, on the border with Tanzania.

The heavily alkaline lakes such as Bogoria, Nakuru, Elmentaita and Natron are rich in blue-green algae which attracts vast flocks of greater and lesser flamingos, whilst the predominantly freshwater lakes of Turkana, Baringo and Naivasha are home to populations of hippo, crocodile and a wide range of water birds. The two lakes most commonly visited are Nakuru and Naivasha.

Itinerary

Day 1. Nairobi to Masai Mara national reserve

You will be pick you up from your Nairobi hotel or Airport then drive via the scenic Great Rift Valley, a stopover at the view point to see this great depression to the Mara arriving in good time for lunch. Afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2. Masai Mara

Early breakfast then spend the whole day in the park with packed lunch in search of its popular residents like the well-known predators and their opponents like the Zebra, Wildebeest, Giraffe, Hippo and the dangerous Crocodiles with a visit to Mara river. Meals and overnight at Camp or lodge.

Day 3. Masai Mara to Lake Nakuru

Early morning game drive at Masai mara before breakfast then drive to Lake Nakuru arriving at lunch time. After lunch and check in at hotel have lunch and relax. Later afternoon game drive until sunset along the lake. Dinner and overnight at Hotel or Camp.

Day 4. Lake Nakuru to Amboseli

After early breakfast. Drive from Lake Nakuru to Amboseli. Arrival will be in time for lunch and you will be checked in to Lodge or Camp. The afternoon will entail a game drive as well as see Kilimanjaro if the weather is clear. In the evening you will head back to the Safari Camp or Lodge for dinner and spend the night.

Day 5. Amboseli park to Nairobi

You will wake up to an early morning game drive after which you will have you breakfast. Drive to Nairobi arriving in time for lunch. Lunch at Nairobi Carnivore restaurant, afterwards drop off at your respective Nairobi hotel or Airport.
